Yoga Nidra - or yogic sleep - is a form of guided meditation.

Yoga Nidra, or “yogic sleep,” is a method of pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses) that guides you into a state between wakefulness and sleep. Through body scanning and deep relaxation techniques, the central nervous system is soothed, allowing the body to relax from the inside out. Since the central nervous system governs both voluntary and involuntary actions—and holds the bridge between the conscious and subconscious mind—Yoga Nidra offers a powerful way to reset on a cellular level.

In the philosophy of Tantra Yoga, the Panchamaya Kosha system describes five subtle layers of being: the physical body (Annamaya), energetic body (Pranamaya), mental body (Manomaya), intellectual body (Vijnanamaya), and bliss body (Anandamaya). Yoga Nidra gently guides awareness through these layers, moving from the outermost to the innermost, fostering union and deep self-connection.

Our practice is supported by the many branches of yoga—moral observances, physical postures, breathwork, meditation, and concentration—all of which work together to bring harmony to body, mind, and spirit. By traveling from the thinking-mind into the physical body, then through the energetic and mental layers, we begin to communicate with ourselves more deeply, even at a cellular level.

At my weekly Yoga Nidra Meditation & Sound Bath, you’ll be invited to settle into a cozy nest of pillows and blankets, select crystals or essential oils to heighten your experience, and journey inward through guided meditation. To close, the healing vibrations of crystal singing bowls will wash over you, helping to integrate your practice and seal your intentions for the night.
